Massimiliano Fanni Canelles, on his return from the previous mission, has reported during a meeting at the ministry of foreign affairs serious violations of human rights taking place in Sri Lanka and involving mostly children. A significant proportion of the children suffer sexual abuse before the age of 5. This aspect has already been reported and denounced by prof. Harendra De Silva, pediatrician and president of the Child Protection Unit, and is now being carefully considered by the Italian Cooperazione who, along with Dr. Fanni Canelles, is preparing a feasibility study to help these children.
